The Buku professionals initially acted swiftly when they sensed the need for unique, tailor-made gifts and promotions to a select few clients in the hospitality and media fields a few years ago.
Buku gifts have not only grown extensively in popularity and reputation over the years, but the company has also taken social upliftment to heart. We believe it is vital to involve local skill in the production of gifts or finishing touches and to develop businesses as far as possible.
Given the choice, we prefer using products which are derived from sustainable resources e.g. conference bags from woven grasses. Buku often uses sheltered labour for compiling gifts, or to create employment through targeted community centres.
These individuals assist - under careful supervision - with the high volume packing and wrapping of products, e.g. Aids Ribbons and Prevention of Violence against Women and Children campaigns.
A percentage of sales from all orders which are linked to fundraising, is donated to charity by Buku - our gift to society.
We are also proud of a local labourer who has exceptional integrity and a real desire to succeed, whom we have mentored and assisted with training in business skills.
